Part 91, Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC), of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended, mandates that every county will operate a state approved SESC program.  The program is designed to provide SESC permits and assistance to residential and commercial landowners who engage in construction projects in Gogebic County.  The law basically requires a SESC plan and permits to be in place for “earth changes” that are one (1) acre in size or greater, and/or within five hundred (500) feet of a lake or stream.
